The Yogi DR™ is a multi-faceted company focusing not only on yoga, but creating a portal for patients, clients, and practitioners to reach sought after industry leading medical professionals. The Yogi DR™ believes in establishing and maintaining a wholly balanced life – rooted in strength, balance, and awareness to achieve one’s full potential.

David has enjoyed an active lifestyle filled with sports starting at a young age. He began running competitively as early as 5 years old. David ran Division I Cross Country, Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field in college. He additionally has competed in triathlons and enjoys surfing, volleyball, and rock climbing. Throughout this lifelong pursuit of peak performance and physical excellence, David experienced what is common among athletes – chronic pain. From his own experience with pain management, David discovered the healing and restorative power of yoga. He was able to overcome pain in multiple joints and areas of his body to include his back, knees, neck, and shoulders. Ultimately, David’s goal is to help others transform their lives and lifestyles through the practice of yoga.

David graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 2002 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. He was a Program Manager and Acquisition Officer on several Space Launch and Satellite Programs for the US Air Force from 2003 until 2008. David resigned his commission as a Captain to instead pursue a career in medicine, drawn to the industry that had supported him throughout his athletic pursuits. David began working for St. Jude Medical, a medical device company, assisting physicians with the implantation of neuromodulation devices. These devices’ primary purpose was to help reduce and control chronic pain. David discovered his passion for patient care and their support, helping them regain a better quality of life. In 2012, David’s personal friend and mentor, Dr. Alexander P. Hersel, asked for help building his medical practice: Pain Management and Injury Relief Medical Center, Inc. (PMIR), and medical management company; Virtuoso Medical Management, Inc. (VMM). Together, Dr. Hersel and David were able to establish one of the most successful pain management practices and two of the most successful Ambulatory Surgery Centers in the Los Angeles area.

After working with PMIR and VMM for nearly two years, David felt an even stronger call to pursue his passion – to develop a company focused on the health and wellness of its clients through the practice of yoga. Over the last six years, David has worked with Los Angeles’ most talented Pain Management Physicians, Physiatrists, Neurosurgeons, and Orthopedic Surgeons. David understands that patients and clients need a balanced regimen of physical exercise, stretching, breathing, nutritional intake, and meditation to create a higher level of awareness and well-being. Multiple studies have shown yoga decreases blood pressure, increases oxygen uptake, increases digestion, detoxifies the body, decreases stress, and lowers overall risk of injury. The Mayo Clinic has written a number of papers and articles that assert the positive affects of yoga. [ http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-living/stress-management/in-depth/yoga/art-20044733 ]

In addition to the immediate physiological benefits of yoga, practitioners will notice secondary benefits and improved lifestyle as the effects build upon each other. For example, decreased stress and increased oxygen intake will contribute to better, deeper sleep which will in turn improve performance at work, in the yoga studio, and in life.

Grounded in their own years of practice, self-discipline, ever-expanding awareness, and constant personal development, David and his team of certified, registered yoga instructors are prepared to guide you through personalized tailored yoga sessions focused on you and your body’s needs.

“It is with much gratitude and love that I thank my loved ones, mentors, friends, family, employees, and patients – you have significantly contributed to the self-realization and discovery of my higher path throughout this lifetime and for that, I am eternally grateful.
Namaste.” – DR
